The Beach is back open after its annual refurbishment and doesn't it look rather fantastic (even if I do say so myself!). Back open 7 days a week offering you the very best in what a surfshop should be all about (in my opinion of course). So don't worry about any silly recessions, get on down to The Beach and check out some really great clothes ranges and wetsuits. Get chic, get funky, get away from the dull dull dull high street and then go get wet. Surfs Up boys and girls. Have the courage to dream and the strength to follow those dreams through. Then throw yourself over that fat lip..... This year is about going to new levels, push those moves harder and faster and go bigger. |
Welcome to The Beach Surf Shop. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to locate me, it's appreciated. In return I will endeavour to offer you the care, knowledge and passion of a genuine surfer and ocean lover. I am a relatively small shop (but just like the doctors tardis when you enter) in a delightful south devon town, where my dream has always been to build a surfshop reminiscent of my childhood memories. I seek to provide an atmosphere and environment where you feel at home, welcome and surrounded by a sense of excitement and adventure for the sport of surfing. In the 'old' days, the town surfshop often struggled to survive because not many of us surfed, these days however its hard to find a shop that doesn't sell surf stuff. How the times have changed. But without wishing to fall into the trap of being a faceless, knowledgeless high street selling machine, I strive instead to continue to offer that degree of knowledge and honesty that comes from 30 years of surfing experience. I wish to be the face that you see, the one to whom you can ask questions and the same person that shares waves with you. Long live the original surf shop - where the adventure lives on... |
My philosophy is simple. I don't wish to compete with the high street chains and impersonal stores who battle hard for your cash whatever the 'latest, hottest fashion' that they sell. I am only interested in fighting hard for your heart and to bring you in touch with a surf knowledge and lifestyle that represents the soul based aspect of surfing. The very same aspect that has influenced my whole life and provided me with great pleasure, exhilaration, challenge, hope, health and happiness. And if I can support myself and family and strive to keep honing my business in an environmental and ethically advanced way, then I am a happy soul. If this rings any bells with you, then I look forward to welcoming you into The Beach here in sunny Teignmouth.

Established in 1998, The Beach has evolved very much over the last 10 years. I am excited by what we have achieved but more so by the potential ahead. 2008 see's another big step forward with how The Beach finds its niche in the world of big shops. My new team has worked hard to introduce a really fresh line-up of clothing, surf hardwear and accessories that leaves us feeling very proud of what we can offer you. With our hearts behind our business, I hope your experience of The Beach Surf Shop connects you with the pleasure that is all wrapped up in being part of the surf crew. Its a fantastic sport, an amazing pastime and a wonderful connection with both your self and nature. For the kids or for you as an adult, being in or around the ocean has endless possibilities for fun, friendship and laughter. The beach is where the ocean meets the land, our The Beach is where you can similarly experience the thrill, the rush, the pleasure and excitement of such a coming together. We call it the "stoke".
